On April 22nd Azerbaijan Women in Technology Association (AWITA) – FEMMES DIGITALES in co-operation with the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication; B.EST Solutions and BLOOM GROUP are organizing the online conference on the occasion of 10-year anniversary of international day “Girls in ICT”.
The event will be hold in the framework of the International “Girls in ICT day”, initiated by International Telecommunication Union (ITU), on 8th of April, 2011 and celebrated every year on the fourth Thursday in April. The main goal of the conference is to encourage and direct girls and women to study and work in IT-related positions and to develop their own careers in the field of IT.
Since 2011, over 377,000 girls and young women have taken part in 11,400 International Girls in ICT Day celebrations from 171 countries around the world. 8 inspiring female role models from Azerbaijan, Estonia and United Kingdom will share their stories how IT has empowered them.
The opening speech will be delivered by Mr. Vusal Gasimli, the Executive Director at the Center of Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication. The special conference speakers will be Mrs. Kristel Kruustük– founder of Testlio Start-up, the youngest female millionaire in Estonia, the recipient of awards: ‘Woman of the Year’ and ‘Young Entrepreneur of the Year’; Mrs. Medina Guliyeva – Doctoral Researcher in nanomedicine at University College London, co-founder at Azerbaijan Science Association, United Kingdom.
The founders and members of “Femmes Digitales” Association – Mrs Jana Krimpe– an accomplished visionary in e-Government, founder and CEO of B.EST Solutions; Mrs. Khaver Babazadeh – CTO, Azercell Telecom; Mrs. Turana Gasimova – deputy head of International relations department, head of International Cooperation Division, at the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ASAN); Mrs. Gunay Kazimzade – award winning doctoral researcher on AI,the advisor to the head of e-Government Development Center; Mrs. Shahla Mammadova – enterprise agile coach at PASHA Bank – one of the biggest banks in Azerbaijan; Mrs. Shabnam Mammadova – the head of Project Development Department at Innovation Center under the ASAN; and Mrs. Raya Aliyarzadeh– the honored teacher of the Republic of Azerbaijan and deputy director on ICT of Baku European Lyceum will be engaged in discussion panel regarding role models in IT sector, challenges and perspectives.
The celebration aims to raise awareness, share stories and encourage more girls and young women for actively pursue careers in the science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) to bridge the gender digital divide as well as engage the Azerbaijani community and promote collaboration through partnerships.
