FEMMES DIGITALES Represents Azerbaijan at Global Gender Equality and Climate Action Dialogue
Secretary General of FEMMES DIGITALES-Supporting Women in TECH, Sayyara Huseynova, proudly represented Azerbaijan at the “Investing for Gender Equality and Inclusive Climate Action” dialogue during the International Development Days (IDD2024) in Istanbul. Organized by UNDP and OECD, the event took place on October 17-18, 2024, bringing together global leaders to discuss the critical intersection of gender equality and climate action.
On October 16th, preceding the dialogue, Sayyara Huseynova spoke at the UNDP Eurasia Regional Gender Specialists Meeting, highlighting FEMMES DIGITALES’ 10-year journey in empowering girls from vulnerable regions of Azerbaijan and promoting leadership in the TECH sector.
The event emphasized the importance of women as leaders in climate action and the need for gender-responsive solutions to build a sustainable future. Tiffany Sprague, STEM4ALL Platform Lead at UNDP Istanbul Regional Hub, reflected on efforts across Europe and Central Asia to integrate gender equality into climate policies. She highlighted the importance of addressing barriers to women’s leadership, STEM education, and access to careers in the green economy.
As part of the Azerbaijani delegation, FEMMES DIGITALES shared its achievements in advancing women’s participation in technology and STEM fields. Over the past decade, the organization has reached more than 5,000 women and girls, particularly in rural areas, through mentorship and STEM education initiatives. These efforts contribute significantly to Azerbaijan’s sustainable development goals and promote gender inclusion in climate strategies.
FEMMES DIGITALES remains committed to advancing gender equality and fostering innovation, ensuring that women play a vital role in building a sustainable future while learning from global best practices to strengthen its mission.
