The annual SHE Congress was held grandiousely this year on May 22 at the Heydar Aliyev Centre by Azerbaijan Business Women. Renowned as a pivotal event for women’s leadership in the region, the congress promotes personal and professional advancement among women and aims for gender balance across all industries.
Under the theme “OWN YOUR LIFE,” the event provided an empowering program that inspired participants to recognize and leverage their own potential. The lineup of speakers included distinguished figures from various sectors and countries. Among them were Hijran Huseynova, Member of Parliament and Head of the Committee for Family, Women and Children; Tariq Qureishy, Futurist and CEO at Xponential Group; Nigar Arpadarai, UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP29 Azerbaijan; Dr. Amy Baxter, CEO of @Pain Care Labs; Anar Hasanov, CEO at Yelo Bank; Ida Beerhalter, Co-Head of IOME; and Tatyana Mikayilova, Founder of Azerbaijan Business Women. The speakers delivered motivational speeches on a range of topics including cognitive empowerment, financial literacy, cultural preservation in innovation, and environmental sustainability.
“Tech-Free Trailblazers: Women who dare to Disrupt” panel was curated by Femmes Digitales Public Union. The panel included Jana Krimpe, CEO of B.EST Solutions and Chair of Femmes Digitales Public Union; Inara Valiyeva, Chairperson of the Innovation and Digital Development Agency; Shahla Mammadova, Head of the Center of Excellence at PASHA Bank OJSC and Board Member of Femmes Digitales Public Union; and skillfully moderated by Kanan Tabasaransky, Founder of Smart Solutions Group. Panelists shared their personal journeys, showcasing how individuals from varied backgrounds can make a successful transition into the tech industry. They emphasized the need to constantly update knowledge to keep pace with technological advancements and the power of networking. The session aimed to enlighten women about the possibilities of joining the tech sector at any point in their careers, to explore the challenges and opportunities in enhancing women’s roles in tech, and to initiate dialogue and establish best practices in this high-demand area.
SHE Congress 2024 acted as a driving force for positive transformation, advancing progress towards hashtag#SDG #5— gender equality, and other associated objectives.
